Letter from the President – Craig Johnson

The year is all but over. We have a great show coming – the UCHA/Marker Futurity & Aged Event. The competition here is as first class as anywhere. We appreciate Marker & Daryl Santos for their continued support.
We are known as the futurity with the “great” jackets.
We will be having our UCHA Annual Membership meeting during the futurity – it will be held Friday, November 7.
Those of you winning saddles from our UCHA Weekend Finals show will receive you saddles at this time. It was a really good cutting in Oakley and the excitement was there. This meeting is the time when you have your voice heard as far as election of officers and board members. There are several going off the board. The terms of president and vice president are two year and both will need to be filled. The board members having their terms expire are Randy Castona, Heidi Hadlock, Jennie Hale, Marty Kaufman, Greg Smith and Steve Williams. I want to thank them personally for all the help they have been. Some of these have expressed a desire to be re-elected to the board. The nomination committee is working hard to secure individuals that would like to serve on the board as well as either president or vice president.
At our Annual Membership meeting, you, the UCHA membership, will have the opportunity to vote for who you would like to see take the reins of the association. Be sure to come and enjoy the meal and put your input into the meeting. If you have a desire to be on the board, contact Steve Williams at 801-910-9208 or any of the members of his committee. They are Steve Williams (801-910-9208) Greg Smith (801-547-7987), Ken Webb (801-380- 4032) or myself (801-451-4566).
2009 will be a new year with new ideas coming forth to make the Utah Cutting Horse Association a strong association.
